It’s not just online that people suffer from echo chambers. At a time when people increasingly tell one-sided stories, show things from one angle alone, it’s more important than ever to see the full picture. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most reported-upon in the world, and unfortunately many of those telling Israel’s story are advocates for a particular cause or vision. Some engage in Hasbara, and others seek to expose Israel’s failings. The reality is, there’s truth in both sides. Regrettably, most tourists don’t have the time or experience to seek out a range of views.
With that in mind, Israel Explained was born. I endeavour to tell Israel’s story warts-and-all, showing how this country has much to be proud of, and much as-yet unresolved. My sessions challenge participants to view Israel in different ways, think critically, and grapple with a range of conflicting issues and interests.
